Artist Statement
Don Murphy was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. His father, an international art designer for a major label printing corporation, always encouraged Don's artistic abilities. Don's unique connection to nature, use of materials and inspired imagery has made Don a highly skilled self-taught painter. His early years took him to the Milwaukee Public Museum and the Cincinnati Historical Museum for historical replication restoration works. Don has also used his artistic talents as a musician and in the high fashion beauty industry with Helene Curtis in Chicago, Illinois.
Don has drawn on varied artistic experiences in his life for his inspirations. He has been influenced by the modern, contemporary and abstract artists of the early and mid-twentieth century. Debie Wilson, an interior decorator in Indianapolis, interviewed Don at the presentation of one of his works for a financial institution. During this interview he was quoted as saying, "As my creativity expands in a variety of images and techniques, this evolvement allows for diverse procedures making for a unique body of works."
Don is grateful for the support he receives from his closest friends, associates, Irish spirit and spiritual intercessors as it is an integral part of his success and crucial to his continued creative process.
"Celtic Happy" Don looks forward to meeting with you and discussing his works.
